Teachers seminar becomes UMNO's boot camp

A compulsory seminar for teachers is found to be an event to indoctrinate them with anti-Pakatan Rakyat rhetoric, according to PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hasan Tantawi (pic).
The seminar, held on September 28 at the Vistana Hotel in Kuantan, was addressed by among others deputy Education minister Mohd Fuad Zarkashi, and was filled with speeches and literature condemning PAS, PKR and DAP.

"They also asked the teachers to support UMNO in the next general election and for all teachers sympathising with the opposition to be influenced to vote for UMNO.
"The seminar is more like UMNO’s workshop in preparation for the general election,” said Nasrudin while showing politically-charged booklets distributed to participants.
Among them is a video compact disc, which bears the words 'Institut Aminudin Baki', an organisation under the Ministry of Education that functions as a training institute for educational management.
Nasrudin claimed that teachers were offered ‘lucrative’ returns should they campaign for UMNO.
He said it was treacherous of the ministry to use public funds to campaign for UMNO.
Nasrudin added that a similar seminar will be held at Dewan Jubli Perak Kuantan, Pahang, this Thursday.
“PAS Youth urges the Education Minister to immediately stop the thoughtless move which will only further tarnish UMNO’s reputation,” he added.
