Sabah PKR called on independent political parties to either join Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat if they wished to make an impact in the coming general election.
"Only BN or PR has a chance of forming the Malaysian government. Without being part of a team, any other small political groups will end up like SNAP (Sarawak National Party) in the recent state election," Karim Ghani, the newly-appointed head of the Sabah PKR Strategy and Election Bureau, told reporters.
He added that should the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) decide to join Pakatan, it should do so as a full member and not under a 'Pakatan Plus' concept.
"They must belong to the Pakatan team, not be on their own," said Karim.
"So, we hope SAPP will become fully Pakatan, not just Pakatan Plus. We will have to wait and see as this is being discussed between Pakatan and SAPP."
Don't Follow SNAP
SNAP was a member of the federal opposition pact. However, just before the Sarawak state election in April this year, it withdrew from Pakatan, citing seat allocation disagreements with PKR.
All of its 26 candidates were defeated in the 10th Sarawak state election, with 25 of them losing their deposits.
Karim added that they expected the general election to be held soon and have devised stratgies to distribute the party manifesto across the Land Below the Wind.
