US Warns China Expanding its Maritime Power

China's military is increasingly focused on naval power and has invested in high-tech weaponry that will extend its reach in the Pacific and beyond, the Pentagon said Wednesday.

China has ramped up efforts to produce anti-ship missiles that could knock out aircraft carriers, improved targeting radar, expanded its fleet of nuclear-powered submarines and warships and made advances in satellite technology and cyber warfare, the Pentagon wrote in an annual report to Congress.

Brent Crude Nears $110 on Libya Crisis

Brent crude rose to nearly $110 a barrel in Asian trade Wednesday, underpinned by the crisis in oil-rich Libya after rebels overran the compound of Moamer Kadhafi, analysts said.

The contract has steadily risen in the past two days after initial euphoria that Libyan oil production would return to pre-revolt levels evaporated as it was evident the country's facilities will take some time to get back online.
